I was on Facebook one evening and noticed a friend post a link for
Read the World Summer Book Club and decided to look into it. After reading about the program, I thought this was a perfect way to include some structure for the summer but stay flexible about learning time too. I have loved researching and finding books for each of the continents. The lady/mama/blogger who came up with this online book club also wrote a book called
Give Your Child the World: Raising Globally Minded Kids One Book at a Time and in this book she recommends children's books that reference different cultures and geography. I was able to check the books out at the library but think I will purchase it for future use because I have really loved the book recommendations!! Week one was all about multicultural books and I was able to find quite the selection of book ideas on Pinterest since I didn't have the book from the library yet. We also made a really neat craft that helped the kids to see how big the world is! They loved it!
