Day 1 consisted of exploring around the property. Someone made this really cool nature tee-pee! We didn't spend as much time there but it was really neat. We made a little trip to downtown Breck and visited a few shops and played at a little park. I showed the kids my favorite Starbucks because it's the sweetest yellow house turned coffee shop! We hung out at the river and enjoyed the street art. We had a pizza and movie night at the house after our little trip into town. We also made a fire and broke out the s’mores, roasted marshmallows with a cozy inside fire was the perfect ending to the day. Our car broke down and we had to get it towed back to the springs and find a rental for the rest of the trip, which was a huge bummer and pretty stressful but nothing chocolate can’t fix! We also were lucky enough to see a fox when we were trying to figure out what to do with the car and it was perfect timing otherwise we would have missed that that cool animal sighting!
Day 2 included the famous Troll sighting and visit, another park visit, and ice skating! The troll is really fun. It was really interesting to see how many people wanted to see the troll. There was a long line and it reminded us of Disneyworld but at least the kids got to play in nature while we waited. We only had a few short minutes to see the troll and take pictures because of the line. We wished we had a bit more time but the kids were still very impressed by the giant wooden troll statue. After the troll sight seeing, we played at the train park and looked at the small train museum for awhile before getting a quick bite to eat a local restaurant. We had a little time before our ice skating reservation so we decided to try another park that was brand new to the area and it did not disappoint! It was so much fun, full of nature elements, and parkour inspired equipment. We all had a really wonderful time playing at the park and we would have visited again had we had more time. Ice skating felt like a private party since there could only be 20 people per session. It was actually quite nice with the kids learning how to skate. They had skate helpers which were very helpful for the kids. Alivia was a natural. Ellie loved it. Graysen enjoyed it. Nolan tolerated it, but was more interested in how all the ice got into the ice arena. :) It was also very nice to have a 1 to 1 ratio of adults to kids. Alivia already wants to go skating again. We came home to make tacos and enjoy game night!
Day 3 was our sad goodbye to Aunt Kristin and Uncle Chris. We had such a great time with them and loved exploring Breckenridge alongside them. We are really blessed that they invited us to join them on for a few days on their trip. We traveled onto our next destination and went to Mount Princeton Hot Springs. The kids absolutely loved the hot water pools. Alivia made a few little day friends and played with them. She is getting old enough that we let her play with them without being in arms reach. The kids kept us busy on both days that we went. Ben and I did sneak away for a little date night after the kids and my mom got a turn in the pool on the first night. I brought our little waffle maker that Kristin bought us and waffle mix to make breakfast in the morning. We had waffles and fruit for breakfast before going to the hot springs one last time. What a fun trip!!
