This is a little late, but we sent out our 2009 highlights/2010 newsletter with our birth announcement, and wanted to include it on our blog. Enjoy :)
Although 2009 was much different than we had imagined, it was an amazing year for us! We started out the year with excitement and ended the year with the biggest New Year celebration we could ask for! - In January, we took an unforgettable trip to Hawaii for a cousin’s wedding and to visit family- what a great experience and 2 week vacation. -May was quite a busy month for us! We bought our first house and moved in May 15th! Yeah tax money and awesome new townhome. Our townhome was built in 2005 but due to the recent economy the builders were foreclosed on, so we got a sweet deal and a brand new home. Love it! Rachel was able to visit her dad to watch him graduate from graduate school- A big congrats to him. Boston is a really neat place and hopefully Ben can make a visit sometime too. We also found out that Rachel was pregnant. What a surreal and amazing experience! It took us awhile to get used to the idea that we were going to be parents, but we knew it was a blessing from God! - On August 5, we celebrated our 2 year anniversary! We have had many awesome experiences and a few struggles that have brought us closer as a couple. We look forward to many more years together! - We went back and forth on whether or not we were going to find out the sex of our baby, but in October we decided to go for it and found out we were going to be surrounded by a lot of pink! - We are sure thankful for all of our friends and family. We show thankfulness in November, but we appreciate you year round! We were able to have a wonderful thanksgiving with family and enjoy the time eating, playing games, and watching football. Ben also passed his Level 1 PGA test in Florida. We are very proud of his accomplishment and hard work! He is now working on his Level 2 and is much closer to becoming a PGA professional. - In December we celebrated the Christmas season with loved ones and welcomed our daughter, Alivia Ashleigh Spiers, into the world! She was born at 7:46 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and 20 inches long- she is such a beauty! We rang in the New Year with our new baby and many friends and family members. What a grand day to be born- she will probably have many wonderful birthday parties in her future. J We love Alivia so much and we are blessed to have her as our daughter!
